Magi - Kaoru

Not as detailed as a lot of my other things, but still working on it.

Born in the Kou Empire Palace
She currently does not live in a specific place as she travels around with Kouha's army. 

Kaoru was born in the Kou Empire palace to Ito Iwao, a noble man, and Taira Masa, a servant woman who he was not married to. When Masa died in childbirth, Kaoru was raised by servant after servant that Iwao hired to care for the child, while he had little interaction with her from his busy life style. When Kaoru was age three, she started to show signs of being able to use magic. Iwao, though the Empire was filled with Magicians, found them to be unnatural and strange beings. He ordered the servants to no longer be around Kaoru except to bring her food and water, warning them that she could be dangerous. The servants, having known Magicians on their own to not be dangerous, did not agree with his orders but had to follow them. 
By age seven, Kaoru was left with little to no interaction with people. She typically sat in her room, listening to people speak outside of her room through a window that she could not reach. She heard them talking about everything from daily routines to talk about the Kou Empires expansion. She began to grow great interest in the conversations about the army and fighting. With a broom a servant had left in her room, she began to use it to attack the random items in her room, such as dressers and her bed, in an attempt to figure out what it would feel like to fight. She spent most of her days doing this, often frightening the servants that came in to bring her food, as she would sometimes jump out at them for fun, or almost hit them while she was in the middle of swinging the broom around.
Aside from playing around with the broom, she also busied herself by playing and fixing her hair in as many different possible ways she could think of. Even though she was very thin and pale from never getting outside, she found herself to be very pretty and enjoyed doing what she could to make herself look nice with what little clothing and hair accessories she had. She had always admired the way the servants dressed and kept themselves, and since they were the only women she had ever seen, she modeled herself after them and often attempted to replicate their hair styles. 
At one point when she was 10, she was playing with her broom and hitting at a dresser when the door opened unexpectedly. Kaoru had memorized the times when the servants always came, and since it was not around that time, she panicked and turned, striking the person who had come inside as hard as she could. She was shocked to see that it was her father, who she had not seen in a few months. Iwao had knelt down to the ground, gripping the side of his head that was now bleeding violently. The man left quickly after to attend to his wounds and Kaoru did not touch her broom again. 
A few weeks later, Iwao came back to the room with a sword. The blow to his head had caused him to forget things and he could no longer do his work properly. Enraged at having been removed from position, he planned to kill his daughter, who had ruined his career.  Though when he tried to attack her, she was protected again and again by the Borg that came natural to Magicians to protect them from harm. But, since Kaoru was still very frail and weak, she could not keep her Borg up against his vicious attacks and it soon shattered. Iwao was able to create a large gash down her left arm. Before he could deliver another blow, servants outside of the room that had heard the screaming and rushed in, stopping Iwao. While they held him back, Kaoru ran out of the room and continued running through the palace until she collapsed from blood loss and exhaustion. 
She awoke two days later in the infirmary, being cared for by the normal Human healers. Her arm was bandaged and stitched up, though everyone around her was highly confused as to who she was, since there were only a total of two servants who took care of her at any time and had been the only people in the palace to ever see her. When asked who she was, Kaoru could only answer the name of her father and the names of the servants that cared for her. The healers were instantly put off by the information. Iwao had murdered both servants that cared for Kaoru before he was taken in by the authorities, and was then later executed the next day while Kaoru slept. 
From then, Kaoru was seen as the daughter of a murder. No one knew anything else of her and did not bother to listen to her story when she tried to explain herself. Though, because she was so young and still of noble birth, she was granted a personal servant to care for her and bring her food. She was put back into her old bedroom, which still bore the dark stains on the wood that could not be washed out. 
Angered at being thrust into the shadows once again, Kaoru refused to stay in that room at any point except to sleep. At all times of the day, she was out and doing something. She went back to training herself and learning how to fight and use magic. Since she was not granted much education, she had her servant read books to her about fighting styles. The style she was most interested in involved using long staffs as a weapon, as it reminded her of using her broom. She used what was given to her of her fathers money and purchased a custom made staff, which she also used to channel her magic, though that was something she rarely used. 
She trained herself day after day, learning how to use her weapon and building her physical strength. The wound her to arm had caused some damage to it, and she did not have full mobility with it, so she had to reteach herself a lot of what she had grown used to before she was wounded. 
Starting at age 14, she began to try to get into the army. At the beginning of every week, she would approach the generals and request an audience so she could show them what she had to offer. Again and again, she was denied. They saw that, not only was she still too young, but she was a woman and the daughter of someone who had caused great discomfort to many in the palace. She bore her fathers shame and many looked down on her or treated her ugly because of this. Many children in the palace of her age teased her for the issue and made fun of her scar. She started to hide the scar, even while training by herself, because she felt it made her ugly. 
When she turned 16, she had requested an audience with every general multiple times, and was turned down over and over again. She had become well known for her useless attempts at gaining attention from the army. Her story, though, had caught the attention of Ren Kouha, who was known for taking those who would rather be dismissed by the regular public into his army. He soon summoned her for an audience and, after hearing what she had to say, welcomed her into his army. 
By age 18, she had worked her way up to being one of his personal servants and guard, going with him where ever he went. 


Personality: 
Kaoru, because of her limited social interaction as a child, is quite antisocial and has a hard time behaving properly in public.
She doesn't mind talking with people, but she is often too blunt and that pushes people away, finding her to be rude instead of just outspoken.
She will say what is on her mind at any point, about anything.
She doesn't get embarrassed easily and often has a hard time understanding affection. 
She can often be too rough with people physically. 
She takes criticism on her fighting ability well, but if someone picks on her about her looks she becomes angry. 
She craves the attention of those she gets close to and can often become very clingy. 
She is extremely determined and has known what she's always wanted from a young age. If there's something she wants, she will push for it until she gets it.

Ito Iwao - Father. Has an extremely detached relationship with him though her whole childhood. 
Taira Mara - Mother. Never met her. 
Eri and Emi - The two servants who served as her caretakers through her childhood. They were sisters, and often worked together to care for children whos parents could not for one reason or another. 

Sun Li  - Kaoru begins to interact with Li after she becomes close to Kouha and spends more time around the royal family. Li seems to take a liking to her quickly and begins to care for her in a motherly way. 
Lilianna  - Kaoru meets Lilianna through Sun Li. Because of Kaoru's blunt nature, the two seem to bicker more often than not, but typically get along fine. 
Nanami - - Kaoru meets Nanami though Kenmei. They haven't interacted much, but they get along very well. 
Kenmei -  - Kaoru meets Kenmei though Sun Li. Because of her timid nature, Kenmei is often put off by Kaoru's blunt attitude and often avoids speaking to her too much. 

Ren Kouha - After joining his army, Kaoru takes an extreme liking to Kouha. He was the first person to ever bother to pay attention to her and her fighting skills. She grows to respect and adore him, doing everything she can to please him and show her worth. She works her way up from soldier to personal servant/guard to him in two years time. Once she reaches that level,  she begins to spend much more time around him and her admiration starts to grow into a crush. She comes out with her feelings to him quite bluntly, which Kouha finds amusing and allows her to be as close to him as she'd like, having grown to like her unique and strange personality, as well as her determination to get what she wants. He treats her in a very similar way to his other three attendants, praising her often with kind words, romantic actions and the occasional hitting (which she grows to enjoy just as much as his other three female attendants). Kaoru falls for his charming, caring personality and how he does not look at her with disgust like everyone else during her life had done, due to her fathers actions. He also often remarks that her scar is not something to ashamed of, though Kaoru can still only uncover it around him and has a hard time doing it out in public.   

Powers:
Kaoru was born a Magician. She would be categorized as a Yellow Magician, as she has a natural affinity to Lightening Magic. She is not overly skilled in her knowledge of magic spells, as she tends to lean more on physical strength and fighting with weapons. still, she has learned enough so that she can integrate her magic with her attacks.
